Bespoke wooden handbags and jewelry
I have always had a great passion for design in any medium which produces an aesthetically pleasing solution to problems that inevitably arise. Mojo design always keeps quality foremost in the work I produce along the way.
Designed by Anthony Endean
I served my apprenticeship at the London College of Furniture in cabinet maker where I was lucky enough to meet Mr Trigg a very open-minded teacher where nothing was impossible. A great inspiration in my early ears.
Metal, plastic and wood were the mediums worked with and the combinations were endless.
He realized and taught me, not everyone can sit and pass an exam of 2-4 hours but that it takes a life time and some take longer than others. He also never ridiculed any of my ideas but rather encouraged me to pursue them through trial and error. Thanks Mr Trigg. Due diligence has always held me in good stead in my working life and has been very much appreciated by my clients from many countries.
As an artisan at Mojo Design my love of exotic woods and various grains therin are a challenge as wood/nature finds a way but the results are extremely gratifying.
All woods are ethically sourced and are naturally and kiln dried, ready to use depending on the moisture content.
A few years ago, I was able to purchase an oak tree which was milled locally and I air dried over 5 years period using traditional method, level and stickered. Next spring/summer I’ll be reducing the thickness 6.5cm to 3.2cm. The width is around 60cm at the base and are 5m long. I pulled a piece out and did a final milling and sending and it is wonderfully straight. I enjoyed the process immensely and will continue with this process. I also received small and larger sections of pear, plum, apple and poplar which I use to make jewellery. The poplar has wonderful burls inspired by nature” is what Mojo design is all about in the true sense of the phrase. I use the word bespoke as it defines natures beauty grain wise and my design. It also means no two pieces can be identical, mother nature takes care of that. My sculptured design works in collaboration with nature, again, challenging but satisfying to be able to utilise the many facets of nature.
Mojo Design uses various natural oils and I mix my own recipes to allow the pure colour of the wood to be the star with pleasant natural odours, which are pleasing for the wearer, subtle but not overpowering. On the stained pieces I use a lacquer/varnish to enhance the colours which makes them pop.
At Mojo Design my hope would be that as consumers of Natural bespoke products you’ll enjoy wearing nature’s gift as much I have enjoyed making them and over the years enjoy what nature has to offer.
I’d like to thank my wife Simona for been my personal inspiration and for her support, love and understanding on this journey we’ve undertaken.
